BIRMINGTON-SOUTHERN COLLEGE TO CLOSE IN MAY Birmingham-Southern College, a private liberal arts college in Alabama, will close after 168 years at the end of May. The college faced years of financial difficulties after the financial crash of 2009 caused a $25 million loss to the value of the college’s endowment.
