In this post, were going to break down what you need to do if you recently received a waitlist offer from UT Austin, and what else you need to do to close out your college admissions experience strong. What they didnt have that year, or for many years prior, though, was a waitlist. However, that year is a little confusing.

Based on the admissions at Harvard from 2010 to 2015, legacy applicants were admitted at a rate of 33% , higher than the overall acceptance rate of 6%. Breaking it down further, 1,275 students were admitted through Regular and Early Action, while nine were offered spots from the waitlist. This resulted in a 4.5% acceptance rate.

This rise in exclusivity has impacted the waitlist process, too. Dartmouth reports that “fewer than 10 percent of applicants are offered a place on the wait list,” and between 600 and nearly 2000 students accept that offer to try their luck on the waitlist. Worse still- you may see people get into a college you really wanted to go to or get selected for a scholarship you were hoping to receive, while you are dealing with the disappointment of being deferred or denied or waitlisted. And by beginning I meant the entire blog, circa 2015. Celebrating others is a life skill.
