Women typically face shorter sentences than men, who average three years, making earning a degree part time almost impossible while in prison. Since the Second Chance Pell Experiment program began in 2016 over 45,000 incarcerated people enrolled in CIP programs, over 18,000 earned credentials, and over 1,000 earned bachelor's degrees.
