During the 2022-23 application cycle, 1,710 students were offered a place on the waitlist. Of that group, 1,348 accepted the spot in Princeton admissions limbo, or 79%. So, if you weren’t part of the initial admitted class (a <6% acceptance rate), and were instead offered a spot on the waitlist, you are facing daunting odds.

It’s also a super hard to get into school, and if you’re here, you’ve been waitlisted and don’t know what to do next. Georgetown’s acceptance rate for 2022 was around 12% – a very competitive rate, which translates to their waitlist data. 40 of those students were accepted off the waitlist. Reach out to us today.

If you’ve ended up on this post, you’ve most likely been on the receiving end of a waitlist offer from NYU — or you’re nervous you might get one and want to have a plan of action in advance in case you do. So, if you’ve been waitlisted, it likely has little to do with who you are and has a lot to do with demand for beds.

Before we talk about how to get off the waitlist, let’s dive into their recent data re: waitlist. Out of those 2,508 students, 147 were admitted off the waitlist. You gotta tell them that you wanna be there!

In the 2021-2022 admissions cycle, they admitted 2,730 out of 31,443 applicants, or 8.7%. The following year, for the 2022-2023 admissions cycle, the number of applications continued on an upwards trajectory to 32,373 — and the acceptance rate with 7.7%. 3,112 accepted a spot, and 0 (yes, zero) were admitted. If you applied to Princeton and were notified that you are being offered a space on the waitlist, you should know that this is not a ‘soft rejection.’ They aren’t waitlisting you because they don’t want to reject you. The Princeton Admissions Office isn’t mean, but they also aren’t trying to protect your feelings or soften the blow.
