Both colleges will start their new testing policy with current high school juniors, the university class of 2029. Depending upon the schools on their list and how they have fared on the PSAT or practice tests, it might be better for some students to prioritize their time elsewhere.

PSAT/NMSQT is no longer required. Unlike with the last contract, Illinois high schools will no longer be required to administer the PSAT/NMSQT , a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. Schools can still choose to administer this exam, so reach out to your administration If you’re interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT.

Because of the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students and families, Harvard has announced that it will continue being test-optional for the upcoming classes, including the classes of 2027, 2028, 2029, and 2030. You can and should take the PSAT in your sophomore year. This test can give you an idea of how the SAT works.
