Even if you enter with credits from AP Biology, we recommend completing two biology courses with a lab component. The Chemistry department only accepts APcredit for placement purposes. If you’re interested in pursuing a concentration in Engineering, you can take ENGN 0040 and ENGN 0510 to satisfy the physics requirement.
Students of the College of Arts and Science are limited to a total of 18 credit hours earned by AP, IB, or other advanced courses prior to enrollment and they cannot use these credits to fulfill Vanderbilt’s AXLE courses, which make up a third of their graduation requirements, focusing on writing and liberal arts education.
In addition to the MD program’s courses, you’ll also have to take the MPH program's core courses, 42 semester hours of electives, and concentration courses unique to the MD-MPH track. Keep in mind that fees can vary depending on which program you are enrolled in and what year of study you’re pursuing.
I enrolled in a molecular biology class at the local community college, which was far less expensive than the summer program yet still a challenge for my high school brain. Please concentrate on how you will use the flexibility afforded by FlexMed, and not on the FlexMed requirements.
