High-achieving high school students always have questions about using AP credits. At Duke, students can subtract a total of two AP credits from the 34 needed for graduation, so students with at least two credits will only need to complete 32 credits at Duke to graduate in four years.

As a warning, students should be careful when using AP credits to place ahead of introductory courses. The content taught in these AP courses may not always match perfectly with the material that is taught in the equivalent Hopkins courses, information which may be needed down the road for exams such as the MCAT.

Beyond that, you have to develop close relationships with professors and mentors to eventually obtain strong letters of recommendation for medical school. Be aware that AP credits, even if accepted by your undergraduate institution, might not be permitted to satisfy certain medical schools’ requirements.
