A few weeks ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to tour GA Tech with colleagues from HECA. We attended a wonderful information session followed by a thorough campustour. This was my first time visiting the campus, and I was impressed with what I saw and learned about the school.

Consider schools that offer better internship options, strong career services centers, great academic counselors, and plenty of chances to network and make connections with future employers. Looking at schools online through video and pictures can be helpful, but you want to visit your preferred campus in person.
In 2023, students continue to show a similar level of interest in requesting virtual campustours (24%) as they did in 2021 (25%) — when virtual tours were the only option available. Additionally, students prioritize affordability and career preparation in their ideal college experience.
Summer before your senior year If possible, visit and go on campustours of the schools on your college list. Narrow down and finalize your college list; decide which schools (if any) you'd like to consider for Early Decision or Early Action applications.
Prestige and Reputation : Attending an Ivy League school is often seen as a mark of distinction and can be a valuable asset when applying for jobs, internships, or graduate programs. If in-person visits aren’t possible, explore virtual campustours and attend online events to learn more about each institution.
My high school does not have a computer science class, but I petitioned my school to let me enroll in a few classes on technology and society, including intro to computer science, at a communitycollege. I have also used resources like General Assembly to self-teach. If that applies to you, what have you done to further that interest?
Rather, Stanford hopes to see your child regularly challenge themselves academically, taking advantage of the intellectual resources available to them at their school — which might mean taking eight APs, or two and a communitycollege class. If you’re the parent of a high-achieving teen, you’re likely visiting Ivy League universities.
