Take the PSAT in October Even if you took the PSAT during your sophomore year, this is the one that counts! The PSAT is used to qualify people for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. You will sign up for the PSAT at your school, so look for announcements from your guidance office.

Testing Tips and Timeline for High School Juniors (Class of 2025) October - Taking the PSAT Most high school juniors in the US will take the PSAT on or around October 11. The PSAT will still be the qualifying exam for the National Merit scholarship (the NMSQT). Public colleges in California are permanently test blind.

COLLEGE INFO SESSIONS: If a college comes to your town or close to your town or school, go listen. COLLEGE FAIRS: Go to them! It really doesn’t matter what it is. Ask questions.
