Harvard University , located in Cambridge, MA, was founded in 1636 and is currently ranked #3 in National Universities by the 2024 U.S. News & World Report. Harvard accepted 3.59% of regular decision applicants and 8.74% of early action applicants to the Class of 2028. Despite Harvard’s previous commitment to remaining test-optional through the Class of 2030, the college announced on April 11 it would require students applying for fall 2025 admission to submit either an SAT or ACT score.

MIT is one of the preeminent engineering, science, math, and technology universities in the world. Officially called the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There are about 4,500 undergraduate students, and the acceptance rate for the Class of 2027 was 4.8%. For the Class of 2028, it dropped to 4.5%. The Early Action acceptance rate was only a little bit higher at 5.3%, and the acceptance rate for international students was terrifyingly low at only 2%.

In fact, compared to the personal statement, supplemental essays often require more research and attention to detail.
