UNC-Chapel Hill to Divert Millions in DEI Funding Into Law Enforcement

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Trustees met during a special meeting May 13 to unanimously pass the flex cut amendment. The decision to divert funds comes after a pro-Palestinian protest on campus resulted in over 30 arrests. Marty Kotis, vice chair of the board's budget and finance committee, said diversity in a lot of people's minds is divisiveness, exclusion, and indoctrination and called for more unity.

Franklin Cummings Tech Opticianry student Devyn Shea was the winner of the nationwide NFOS College Bowl academic competition sponsored by Essilor/Luxottica. There were 13 schools competing for the title, with Franklin Cummings Tech repeating as national champion for the second year in a row. The College Bowl is part of Vision Expo East, an annual event for ophthalmic professionals focusing on eyewear, education, and fashion, that was held in March at the Javits Center in New York City.
