Changes to the ACT test were announced earlier this week. They include: The science section will now be optional. Like the writing section, students can choose to take the test with or without science. The Composite score will be the average of the reading, writing, and math sections. The test will be shorter. The core test (reading, writing, and math) will be two hours rather than three, with 44 fewer questions and shorter reading passages.
