The Claremont Colleges The Claremont Colleges, also known as the Claremont Consortium, consist of 5 separate and very distinct colleges. While they are nestled within a relatively small radius, they are quite unique in their personalities and appearance. The five colleges offer cross curriculum registration and students may take up to 1/3 of their classes at a college, other than the one they were admitted to.

Ugh! Why do students dread essay writing so very much? Perhaps it's because they think they need to submit a writing piece that is so spectacular as to give Grisham, Tolkein and Toni Morrison a run for their money. NOT SO! Must the essay be interesting and mechanically sound? Yes. Does the essay need to answer the question? Yes. Beyond these concepts, here's the goal and I got two words for ya : Intimate and Revealing.

As October 1st draws nearer, I am reminded (nay, alarmed) that the initial rush of application deadlines is a mere 15 days from October 1st. If you intend to use the Common App, ya best get that sucker started. The 'new and improved' CA4 has a few glitches that are creating a bit of hell for applicants. At the very least, create your account and make yourself familiar with the inner workings of the CA4!

Social Media – I tell my students all the time to clean up their FB page and to be very careful of what images make their way to the big, bad cyber world. It seems that even educated, successfully employed adults aren’t too bright when it comes to what material they post. Take a young admissions officer from Penn who was recently terminated for mocking applicants and posting excerpts of their applications, on line.

As my seniors are finishing their last moments of high school, emotions abound and feelings of disbelief hover and become stronger with each passing day.
